access for hemodialysis. It allows blood to flow from the patient to the dialysis
machine and back into the body after purification.
Types:
Non-tunneled catheter: Used for short-term or emergency dialysis.
Tunneled catheter: Used for longer-term access.
Common site: Internal jugular vein.
